The Role
The Manager Strategic Work Health and Safety leads the implementation and continual improvement of high level, strategic safety policy and procedure in the delivery of a Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS). The Manager ensures compliance with legislative obligations and Australian Standards, achieves the Department’s (including the Muresk Institute) organisational objectives and supports the Department’s Corporate Executive and Leadership teams in meeting their due diligence requirements.

The Department is looking for a WHS professional with experience in leading and implementing WHS systems and frameworks. The position will have a lead role in providing strategic advice to Corporate Executive and senior leaders and drive the implementation of the Department’s Work Health and Safety Plan. The occupant will have the opportunity to use their influencing and negotiation skills to achieve organisational objectives. A relevant qualification and/or equivalent experience working in a WHS environment will be highly regarded.

The position will require occasional travel to Muresk Institute, the Department’s specialised agricultural training facility located near Northam.
