About the role


We are seeking an experienced leader and corporate communications professional to step into the role of Senior Manager Strategic Communications on a permanent basis.


As an experienced all-rounder, the successful applicant will have a strong background in leading a multidisciplinary team to deliver everything from strategic communications, issues management and media relations to digital communication, internal and external campaigns, and events.


Leading a team of talented, fun, and hardworking communications professionals, you will work closely with the Minister for Land’s Office, Chief Executive, General Managers and senior leaders from across the business to develop and execute a future focused, proactive communications strategy and plan. You will be responsible for providing leadership to inspire, engage and drive the team to deliver the workplan.


Reporting to the Executive Director Office of the Chief Executive, you will be required to shape the strategy that will evolve Landgate’s brand identity and oversee the delivery of key communications projects and business change initiatives to both internal and external stakeholders. This will include the evolution of Landgate’s corporate website, further embedding Landgate’ vision and purpose, as well as the development of communication plans and materials to support the delivery of Landgate’s Strategic Development Plan and Statement of Corporate Intent. An important focus of this role will also be to own the crisis communications plan to ensure Landgate is protected and, where necessary, put in place contingencies to mitigate possible risk.


Integral to this role will be your ability to be proactive in building strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders both internally and externally. With your proven track record for thinking strategically, you will use data and insights to make well-considered plans and decisions, whilst being able to pivot and respond to changing circumstances as they arise.

Role Requirements


To be successful in this role, please demonstrate :



  • That you are an exceptional communicator with experience in the delivery of a broad range of communication services including media management skills, issues management, internal communications, and digital communications that is tailored to specific business needs.
  • Your extensive experience as a senior leader , with a track record for inspiring, educating and motivating a team of smart and talented people through a clear vision and strategy.
  • That you have an understanding and awareness of current industry trends, a strong awareness of what's going on in the world and in our state and nation – socially, economically, politically – and can use this knowledge to shape communication plans, strategies and initiatives.
  • Your proven ability to form strong, trusted relationships at all levels to achieve business success, with the ability to pivot in response to the feedback of your stakeholders.
  • That you are someone who can navigate obstacles, analyse and evaluate information, use strategic thinking and creativity and manage competing priorities to solve problems and deliver quality results . This includes being able to deal with ambiguity, handle pressure and remain calm, even in response to a crisis.
