Work with a well renowned, growing and established marine company on Defence projects. Experience in shipbuilding projects is ideal.
Our client is a leader in providing services to the maritime, military and resource sectors. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Project Controller to join their professional team based in Port Macquarie NSW.
The Project Controller will play an integral role in monitoring and analysing project performance, ensuring that projects stay on track and within budget.
The Project Controller will define and implement best practice methodologies whilst leveraging technology and will ensure the provision of timely and expert support to Project Managers within the Defence division across scheduling, planning, cost control and project control.
Occasional inter-state travel will be required.
Key accountabilities:
  • Providing effective and strong leadership to the Project Controls team to facilitate achievement of project outcomes maximising benefits to the firm and the Customer
  • Support Project Managers in the safe and successful delivery of projects through design, production, testing and acceptance within the constraints of quality, time, cost and performance
  • Draft new and improve existing project controls policies and processes
  • Develop and standardise methodologies and tools used to collect and report on project health and status across schedule, budget and cost performance
  • Establish Earned Value Management system that is appropriate for and tailored to the needs of the business
  • Provide expert resources across the core areas of project and cost controls
  • Providing timely and accurate advice and reports to the Program/Project Managers on project performance and analysis
  • Develop and distribute weekly internal reports
  • Support business winning, contract negotiations and project inception as required
Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum 3-5 years + project controls experience in Shipbuilding and Defence or Construction, Infrastructure or Manufacturing sectors is highly desirable
  • Experience of EVM to enable cost and schedule variance tracking and reporting of performance indicators
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills and problem-soling skills
  • Project forecasting and cost estimation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to interact effectively with senior management, stakeholders and partners as well as Military, Government and Commercial customers
  • Formal training in Team Leadership/People Management is desirable
  • Solid knowledge of Primavera P6, MS Project and Open Plan Professional
  • Ability to undertake regular domestic travel when required
  • Ideally Australian Citizenship, with eligibility to hold an Australian NV1 security clearance, will consider Permanent Resident candidates as well.
