Mareeba State High School is set in the picturesque rural town of Mareeba. Catering to approximately 800 students from Years 7 to 12, we are proud of our academic standards, community cultural richness, sporting champions, and creative brilliance.

About the Role:
An opportunity exists for a dedicated and innovative leader to lead the Health and Physical Education (HPE) faculty at Mareeba State High School.
As Head of the Department - Health and physical Education, you will lead HPE faculty in line with school and department initiatives, participate in delivering the school's vision and develop the quality of teaching and learning at Mareeba State High School. You will also lead your team to ensure the effective organisation of sporting events and related curricular and extracurricular activities.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Lead curriculum focus in line with school and departmental initiatives
- Participate in delivering the vision of State Schools Division
- Develop the quality of teaching and learning
- Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders
Mareeba has a strong community and good facilities. The role will allow the person to work in the student support team to develop positive school processes that will assist in the continued development of a positive culture. There is a culture that supports extracurricular activities in a community with strong sporting, cultural, Indigenous, and wider community links.
Highly desirable skills and experience;
- Experience in leading others, will be able to work well with others in a team environment, will be organised and have good relational qualities to work in a rural town.
