Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
Evidence Generation lead: This position will work closely with the LOC medical team and cross functional stakeholders to lead the design and implementation of RWE/EG projects aligned with the business strategy and to coordinate oversight and management of MA sponsored studies and IISRs locally. The role provides real-world evidence (RWE) generation leadership cross functionally across all TA's and will be responsible for contributing to and executing the RWE strategy and be accountable for the operational delivery of relevant RWE projects.
Medical Excellence : Support the LOC Medical Affairs team and GEM Medical
Affairs community to achieve Medical Excellence through successful strategic
initiatives aligned with LOC and GEM strategy. Optimise medical capability
building, customer engagement experience and embed customer facing
excellence. Partner closely with relevant local and regional cross-functional
stakeholders to ensure the creation, implementation and execution of the overall
field medical strategy and activities.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Medical excellence strategic partnership
- Lead LOC Medical Excellence strategy and activities under the guidance and direction of country medical director and in partnership and collaboration with GEM Medical Excellence.
- Provide in field medical excellence support and field medical coaching as needed
- Maintain and optimize the harmonized usage of a Medical CRM system (Veeva CRM), through continuous improvement and enhancements in collaboration with the DD&T organization and Business Insights teams
- Support local MA to optimize the use of Charm and dashboards and to utilize data for reporting of activities and tracking progress against LOC field medical goals and KPIs.
- Enhance and embed insight generation and management process across Medical Affairs.
- Oversee Medical Excellence resources and budget allocation
Medical affairs capabilities and strong medical leadership
- Assist in the development of TA specific MSL scientific engagement plans aligned with the TA Medical Plan to guide field work
- Drive capabilities to capture and share in-field insights to support brand, medical and scientific strategy and business development
- Participate on internal project teams as relevant
Evidence Generation leadership
- Oversee the MA sponsored studies in Country, and provide support and coordination of IISR's as needed and in collaboration with relevant LOC TA teams, ensure timelines are met, contingency plans are executed where necessary and full governance is followed
- Assist the TA's to identify gaps, develop and support RWE projects for relevant disease areas as needed and provide relevant support for effective communications, and as appropriate in conference presentations, publications, dossiers and other means.
- Track and report on new and ongoing evidence generation projects
- Collaborate and partner with key internal stakeholder colleagues to ensure priorities and strategies are aligned
- Educate external and internal stakeholders to enhance capability in the field of RWE
CORPORATE GOVERNANCE
- Ensure that all field scientific-medical communications are fair-balanced, based on appropriate scientific evidence, and compliant with external and internal regulations
- Ensure compliance of all responsible activities to relevant laws and regulations as well as internal standards and SOPs
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION
- Partner with relevant cross-functional internal stakeholders (e.g. medical, regulatory, commercial, market access) to provide support and leadership for business priorities
- Support strong capabilities in medical insights gathering and sharing from the field to key cross-functional internal stakeholders within compliance framework to support the development and life-cycle management of Takeda products
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
Education : Re quired: Masters Degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy or similar and/or _a_ Doctoral Degree in Life Sciences (e.g. Ph.D.) or medical post-graduate (e.g. MD) or equivalent
Required Experience: Minimum 4+ years working experience in medical affairs in pharmaceuticals, or healthcare industry
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum 2+ years prior medical excellence experience
- Minimum 2+ years prior MSL/field based medical experience
- Practical experience in performing RWE studies, in any setting, including life sciences company, research organization, academic institution or governmental agency
Skills & Personal characteristics
- Demonstrated understanding of Medical Affairs purpose, medical excellence, operations and capability building, and deep understanding of role of evidence generation in medical strategy.
- Demonstrated understanding of business context and regulatory and legal environments related to field medical engagements..
- Deep understanding of medical field engagements, capability building, team development and coaching
- Project management experience related to medical excellence and operations, including ability to build consensus across multiple functional stakeholders
- Strong skills and knowledge in medical excellence, and field medical engagement
- Ability to manage complex situations and diverse stakeholders and quickly adapt to changing business needs and priorities
- Ability to influence others in matrix setting to achieve alignment and consensus, and to work in a cross-functional and dynamic business setting
- Demonstrating excellent listening and decision-making skills, as well as written and oral communications, and presentation skills
- Self-driven and results orientated
- Proven skills as an effective team player who can engender credibility and confidence internally and externally.
- High integrity, ethical & professional mindset
- Well versed in highly technical and scientific languages
- Well-established Medical Affairs Competencies including medical and scientific expertise, business acumen, innovation, and cross functional collaboration
- As with all Takeda positions, this role is expected to conduct themselves in line with the Company culture and Takeda-ism
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to drive to or fly to various meetings/congresses/customer visits
- Overnight travel when required, including weekend commitments
