As the Student Support Officer, you will assist in the coordination of the Student Support Program and in developing and introducing systems and intervention strategies which provide a responsive and effective support service for students, family members and staff. In addition, you will engage with administrative processes that ensure a scheduled well-organised student support service and up to date medical records.

These skills will support the successful applicant to create positive relationships with service providers and key stakeholders. The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge and experience of working with allied health professionals when working towards student centred outcomes. It would be desirable that applicants possess a strong understanding of disabilities and the management of students with disability in an educational environment. Experience in management of student transition from primary school, trauma informed practices, School of Special Education Needs: Disability (SSEN:D) and School of Special Education Needs: Sensory (SSEN:S), Child Protection and Family Support (CPFS) management and case conference organisation is highly advantageous.

Dianella Secondary College Educational Support Centre (ESC) is a diverse multicultural secondary school that caters for students with disabilities from Year 7 to Year 13. Our staff are friendly, organised and work together to ensure a supported professional environment. We are situated in a beautiful location on the same site as Dianella Secondary College and adjacent to Dianella Primary College. Together, we have developed a positive relationship focused on supporting students and families.

We have proudly built a school where relationships are based on mutual respect and trust and where partnerships are valued. Developing strong relationships with students and parents has enhanced student learning. Parents are encouraged to take an active role in their child's education and have become an integral part in the development of educational programs.

  • Effective planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing prioritises within timelines.
  • Good research, conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to identify problems and provide solutions.
  • Skills and experience in working with individual or small groups of students experiencing difficulties.
  • Knowledge of the youth sector, particularly local organisations and services.
