Southern River College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher - Arts - Media to join our culturally diverse school.

As a Digital Media and Media Arts Teacher you will be an integral member of The Arts learning area and ideally support the collaborative approach to curriculum planning, providing learning programs to students suited to the needs of the school community, and modelling exemplary teaching and learning strategies. Experience in Adobe software, such as Photo Shop and Premiere Pro, as well as Affinity Photo would be highly regarded, along with experience in filming techniques using DSLR cameras and green screens. Additionally, the successful applicant should possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and/or experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics and be willing to network and build industry contacts with other schools.

The successful applicant will ideally possess professional knowledge, practice, and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary Arts curriculum using a positive, student-focused approach, and ideally have success working with students across a range of ability levels. You should also be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic improvement in a supportive environment, as well as be committed to personal and professional growth and possess high standards of professionalism.

As the successful applicant, you should be highly motivated; student and relationship focused and able to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences. You will ideally utilise innovative initiatives and be able to work effectively within a dynamic team. This will involve you reflecting and assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and cultivating a safe learning environment. The successful applicant should possess effective interpersonal skills, as you will work closely with students, teachers, and the community to instil rigour, resilience, and pride, allowing students to achieve to their full potential.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
