Hammond Park Secondary College (SC) is seeking an engaging, dedicated Music Teacher to join our college and grow our music program. This is a wonderful opportunity for an energetic teacher with a passion for creating a range of performance opportunities for students.

The successful applicant will display excellent interpersonal skills and can foster positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including students, staff and community members. You will have the skills to collaborate with the Arts faculty to develop Arts events and ensure the Arts flourish at the college.

As part of the role, you will coordinate the Instrumental Music Schools Services (IMSS) instrumental lessons, teaching classroom music, and the ability to lead contemporary music performances is an essential aspect of this role. This position is perfect for someone wishing to grow their leadership skills and capabilities.

Hammond Park SC has an Instructional Framework, and a Performance Growth and Coaching Framework based on coaching and continuous feedback. The position requires a teacher willing to grow and learn our instructional approaches and be open to observations and feedback in a supportive culture of shared practice and learning from one another.

The college also places wellbeing at the centre of what we do and has a Wellbeing Framework based on the Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Achievement and Health (PERMAH) principles. PERMAH influences our policies and procedures, and forms the curriculum taught in our Homeroom Program and within learning areas. Staff and student wellbeing is a priority and working from our strengths is important.

Hammond Park Secondary College opened in 2020 with 175 foundation Year 7 students and will add an additional year group each year until we are a 7-12 campus in 2025.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
