  • Identify and drive the media across 30+ programs and initiatives.
  • Craft compelling stories that resonate with our audience.
  • Develop and distribute engaging content to media and key stakeholders.
  • Support internal communications.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key media contacts and our not-for-profit and government partners.
  • Drive strategic communications efforts to elevate our brand.
  • Periodic travel amongst our footprint for media opportunities.
  • Work flexibly with office options in Lismore, Tweed Heads, or consideration for the Central Coast.

We are looking for a passionate individual with a desire to make a difference. The successful candidate will have:

  • Exceptional mainstream media experience.
  • Tertiary qualifications in journalism and/or communications.
  • Exceptional storytelling skills, ideally with experience working for online news sites, radio and/or television – or in corporate/government communications.
  • Proficiency in pitching stories, cultivating relationships with journalists, shaping media releases, and writing for different channels.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation abilities.
  • Excellent grammar skills.
  • Highly organised, deadline-oriented, and adept at multitasking.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in both journalism and government communications.
  • Established relationships with media contacts in Northern NSW and/or other regions in our footprint.
  • Multimedia skills – the ability to edit sound and videos and create online videos with heart.
