Description:

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the NDIS Commission) is an independent agency established on 1 July 2018 to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services. The Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers in Australia and a non-corporate entity under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act).


The key duties of the position include
Assistant Directors take a lead role on individual policy projects as they arise such as the formulation and evaluation of best practice policies, procedures, programs and activities for the NDIS Commission.
  • Prepare sound advice on current and emerging issues related to the NDIS Commission's legislative responsibilities, including engagement with subject matter experts to develop policy and positions.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and regulations, including the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework and the NDIS legislation.
  • Review, analyse and summarise published literature, data, policy papers and other published material to inform policy and program direction.
  • Undertake project management activities including scoping, designing, leading and implementing strategic projects to progress regulatory policy priorities. This includes monitoring and reporting on progress, providing recommendations on risk and identifying and resolving problems.
  • Plan, manage and monitor tasks assigned to the team to ensure priorities and/or expectations are achieved within a timely and quality manner.
  • Prepare high quality written reports, briefs, correspondence and other documents for a range of audiences on complex policy issues, including issues specifically relating to people with disability.
  • Build and maintain relationships with a large and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including people with disability and representative organisations, providers, government agencies, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in, and present to, meetings, forums and workshops on relevant topics. This includes representing the NDIS Commission more broadly.
  • Lead a learning culture where expertise can be developed and appropriately shared.
