The company
A leading building and civil construction company, delivering a wide range of services professionally and capably, is looking for an Bookkeeper/Payroll Officer with a background in Construction to join their close-knit team environment.

The role
The role responsible for administering and maintaining the monthly payroll, ensuring the function operates in a timely and appropriate manner.

Responsibilities:
  • Efficient payroll processing and superannuation payments
  • An understanding of relevant legislation
  • Producing reports on a timely basis
  • Coordination of activities across the payroll function to ensure consistency
  • Ensure payroll function is operating on a timely, efficient basis through planning and scheduling of tasks to ensure external deadlines are met
  • Coordinate process improvements within own area, to ensure duplications are minimized and demands on systems and or resources is reduced
  • Contributing to the sharing of knowledge and information within the payroll team and with internal clients
Qualifications:
  • At least 3-5 years’ relevant experience in Australian payroll
  • Solid understanding of award interpretation
  • Knowledge of basic payroll procedures, organisational structure and organisational policies
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and reconciliation skills
  • The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work with conflicting time constraints.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook) and competent using MS Excel
  • Minimum high school level of education (Essential)
