St John Ambulance (Vic) has been saving lives and delivering care and compassion throughout Victoria for 140 years. Our volunteers and our staff are the lifeblood of everything we do. We are currently recruiting for compassionate Transport Officers - Deceased Persons to support our partnership with the Coroners Court of Victoria.
The Opportunity
At St John Ambulance (Vic) we work together with the Coroners Court of Victoria providing transport services of deceased person in the Geelong/Barwon region and surrounds as well as repatriation services to regional Victoria.
The role involves working as part of a partnership with a crew member (collections from place of death) or individually during a repatriation. Team members will be rostered on call for up to 24 hours during which time may be activated to attend the workplace. If not activated, Geelong/Barwon members will be paid a 12 hour shift ‘on call allowance’.
This will suit someone who is looking to work part-time, flexible working hours or in addition to alternate income streams, as regular hours per week cannot be guaranteed.

Your experience
- Demonstrated experience working with deceased persons and associated stakeholders including family members
- Demonstrated professional and respectful approach when handling and transporting deceased persons
- A high level of resilience, professional presentation, and good communications skills (verbal and nonverbal)
- Maintaining a high level of confidentiality when dealing with highly confidential information
- Understanding and experience with OHS and manual handling procedures
- Have a current driver’s license with safe driving record
