As a Venture Principal in our APAC Venture Studio team you will act as an interim founder of corporate ventures, working with a lean team to identify, scope, structure and validate new opportunities that leverage the scale strengths and unfair advantages of our partners.
Your objective is to shape and kick-start new businesses, acting as an integral part of the interim founding team from identification of customer need, through to solution ideation, testing, validation, investment decision and launch.
In some cases, you will continue as interim GM for the pre-seed or seeded venture. In others, you'll ensure the incoming Founder is set up for success to commercialise and scale the business following seed funding. You will be responsible for the ventures end to end, guiding the venture project team and engaging directly with the corporate partner to identify high value and fast-scaling opportunities.
Requirements
- You've led business model innovation across a range of industries and degrees of complexity. This could range from exposure to heavier asset plays in areas such as energy & logistics, through to those with deeper digital angles incl. GenAI
- You have learnt from significant successes and failures within the entrepreneurial world, ideally through leading your own startups or kicking off and shaping new business models within a corporate environment. You'll likely have raised pre-seed / seed funding a number of times and know what this takes
- You bring a structured approach to ideating new business opportunities, with the knack for zooming in on the riskiest assumptions first and testing the traction of your idea by getting into the mindset of the customer
- You communicate new ideas and insights clearly and with strong narratives. You have a structured mindset and are a critical thinker with an injection of creativity
- You have significant exposure to corporate or consulting environments, and/or working on repeat with investors
- You have a strong grasp of the corporate world including asset leverage and stakeholder partnerships, with proven ability to build and nurture meaningful relationships
- You're comfortable with financial modelling and bringing your vision to operational reality
- You are a team player and can work independently. You enjoy bringing a team on a journey with you and have the knack of asking the killer questions to move a project forward
