Your Opportunity
The Integrated Homelessness Supported Accommodation Program (IHSAP) is a collaboration of complementary services and agencies that is establishing collocated specialist supports such as Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drug, Healthcare, and other homelessness providers.
Mission Australia provides client engagement, case management and care coordination services, as well as Throughcare for people who are either living in, or accessing services at the facility.
The role provides effective case management and face to face informal counselling to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and supports people in the provision of life skills training and services to face homelessness, tenancy risks and other related issues such access to secure long-term accommodation as one of the key goals.
Your key responsibilities will be to :
Respond to referrals of clients to the service and conduct formal face-to-face assessments of suitability to enter the Mission Australia accommodation program
Work with clients who may have experienced long periods of homelessness and trauma related conditions and assist them in transitioning into unsupported tenancies
Build positive and professional relationships with local community service providers, key stakeholders and other relevant government agencies
Attend inter-agency meetings representing and promoting Mission Australia
Complete a range of administrative duties for the efficient running of the service
Requirements for Success
Relevant degree or Associate Diploma
Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable clients, homeless or at risk of homelessness
Experience and knowledge of Aboriginal cultural systems and protocols
Previous experience managing a caseload of complex clients
Experience in building and maintaining relationships with residents and internal and external stakeholders
Knowledge of Microsoft applications particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Strong analytical, numeracy, written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated professional approach and the ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Current NT drivers licence and valid Ochre card
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children / vulnerable people.
