Eligibility to Apply:
Australian citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for applicants to be considered for permanent positions in the public sector.

Other Conditions: WA Health engages staff in positions of trust and responsibility. Position Profile: We are seeking suitably experienced individuals to apply for the position of Senior Policy Officer within the Science and Policy Unit in the Environmental Health Directorate. The position will suit someone with experience in developing policy and legislation. The successful applicant will work with the Principal Adviser (Legislation) and a small team dedicated to supporting the legislative and policy needs of the Environmental Health Directorate. Current priority projects include progressing to completion and implementation of the regulations proposed under the Public Health Act 2016.

The Science and Policy Unit is a dynamic team within the Environmental Health Directorate and we are looking for someone with enthusiasm and a strong ability to work independently on time critical projects. The work will involve managing sensitive information, working across government and with other government departments, consulting with co-regulators and industry and engaging with legal services responsible for legislative development.

It is an important role and, in the current climate, will provide the suitable applicant with a very real experience of being involved in significant legislative reform and supporting its implementation across the state and with our co-regulators in local government.
