Description:
Position Overview: As as Storage Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of our client's storage systems, as well as implementing best practices for data protection and disaster recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain storage systems and storage solutions.
- Monitor storage performance and capacity utilisation, and proactively identify and address issues to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Configure and optimise storage configurations, file system layouts, to meet performance and availability requirements.
- Implement data protection measures, such as backups, snapshots, and replication, to safeguard against data loss and ensure business continuity.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate storage solutions with other systems and applications, ensuring seamless interoperability and alignment with business objectives.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in storage and data management and make recommendations for continuous improvement and innovation.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for storage-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in storage administration or related roles, with hands-on experience managing storage systems in enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of storage concepts, architectures, and technologies, including SAN, NAS, RAID, and storage vitalisation.
- Experience with storage management tools and software, such as NetApp ONTAP, EMC Isilon, or similar.
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions, including data replication, snapshots, and backup scheduling.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex storage issues effectively.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in storage technologies such as NetApp Certified Storage Associate (NCSA), EMC Storage Administrator (EMCSA), or similar.
- Experience with cloud storage platforms such as Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure Blob Storage, or Google Cloud Storage.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation and orchestration.
