We are building Acute Care & Response Teams (ACRT) to serve the north, south and east metro regional areas. The current vacancies are on our East ACRT which serves the Bentley, Armadale and Midland areas. About the Acute Care & Response Team (ACRT):

CAMHS is set to transform its services in line with ICA Taskforce recommendations . The ACRT is a new service model, arising from the ICA Taskforce. The team will provide a step up in intensity of service to children and adolescents experiencing a crisis or deterioration in their mental health. This will include assessment, safety planning and short-term stabilisation, planning for ongoing care, and supplementary care for children with severe and enduring mental ill health to provide the care the child needs in a community setting reducing the need for hospital presentations. The East ACRT will provide a service to children and adolescents who live in the eastern region of the Perth metropolitan area (Bentley, Swan, Midland, Armadale).

As mental health conditions can deeply impact the emotional and social well-being of children and their families, our holistic and child-centred approach is designed to assist families and is focused on participation and engagement.

As a clinician on the team, you’ll be required to conduct home and community visits during business hours and on a rostered basis, including after hours and on weekends, based on operational needs. You’ll be part of a team that prioritises patient and staff safety and receive training and ongoing supervision.

About the Role:

As the Clinical Nurse Consultant you’ll have a dual role, comprising of both clinical and managerial responsibilities. The CNC will be the team leader of the ACRT and manage a large and dynamic multi-disciplinary team. You’ll also be responsible for relationship building, service planning, staff training and development, and continuous improvement.

What you will bring:

  • Extensive experience as a senior clinical nurse within a mental health setting
  • Experience working in a community setting is valuable
  • Flexibility and adaptability in leading the development of a new service
  • Ability to work collaboratively across internal and external teams, services and stakeholders

Registration as a Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia is required. Possession of, or significant progression toward the attainment of a post graduate qualification in area of specialty is desired.

About our CAMHS Directorates

  • Community CAMHS – Community CAMHS offers mental health assessment and multidisciplinary intervention for children and young people up to the age of 18 years.
  • Specialist Services and Day Programs – The Specialist Services and Day Programs consists of Complex Attention and Hyperactivity Disorder Service, Multisystemic Therapy, Pathways and Touchstone. These programs support children and young people who have complex mental health needs.
  • Acute CAMHS – Acute CAMHS, based at Perth Children’s Hospital has a mental health inpatient unit (Ward 5A), Paediatric Consultation Liaison, Eating Disorder Service and Gender Diversity Service.
