Overview of role:

This leadership role drives the operational success of our Data and AI consulting practice. You'll expertly manage client projects, ensuring top-notch delivery and customer satisfaction, while also fostering a high-performance team culture. Your strategic focus on technical excellence, people development, and efficient operations will directly contribute to the growth and profitability of the practice.

Conditions:

Full time, Monday - Friday

Hybrid/Flexible work model depending on location, with potential for remote work

Reporting to Chief Operating Officer

Duties & Responsibilities

Project Management and Delivery:

  • Oversee the successful delivery of Data and AI consulting projects (which may or may not include a project manager), ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery, and high customer satisfaction (NPS).
  • Work with the Project Management Office to identify and implement improvements to the delivery process.
  • Act as the primary point of technical escalation for client engagements, providing expert guidance and resolution of complex issues.

People Development:

  • Work with the CTO to implement and grow skills required to deliver on all products in service catalogue, for example upskilling for a new product / innovation.
  • Work with COO and People & Culture Lead to build and refine consulting and business skills.
  • Mentor, coach, and inspire team members, fostering continuous growth and a commitment to excellence.
  • Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and provide regular feedback to drive high employee satisfaction (EPS).
  • Provide recommendations to proceed/not following Employee Probation
  • Actively recruit and onboard top talent for the practice.

Operations Management:

  • Monitor and optimize key performance indicators (KPIs), such as utilisation rates, consultant margins, project profitability, and billable hours.
  • Review and approve weekly timesheets and complete monthly checks as part of payroll process.
  • Create and maintain resource allocations for projects.
  • Work with Project Management Office to ensure scheduled hours align with allocated hours. Work with consultants to ensure actual hours align with allocated / scheduled hours.
  • Proactively address bottlenecks or resource constraints to ensure the smooth operation of the practice. Adjust allocations as required to support project delivery, leave, and new projects onboarding.
  • Provide a clear forecast of resource availability and skills availability. Work with all internal stakeholders to address any gaps in resource or skills availability.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to support pre-sales activities and proposal development. This will include allocation of technical leads to support these functions and more direct involvement when required.

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

Essential:

  • Proven experience in Data and AI project delivery within a consulting environment.
  • Strong expertise in delivering within a consulting environment including data and cloud services, and AI/ML solutions.
  • Outstanding leadership, mentorship, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational, time-management, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proven experience managing and growing a consulting practice including specific focus on shaping and building the practice for its next phase of growth
  • Excellence in communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form
  • Strong time management skills, able to balance competing priorities and escalate when required.
  • Ability to work remotely via Microsoft Teams
  • Keen for a fast-paced environment with opportunities to learn, grow, and be exposed to a variety of problems, clients, and projects

Desirable:

  • Industry certifications (Azure, Fabric, Databricks)
  • Project management certifications (PMP, Scrum, etc)
  • Operations Management or Workforce Management experience in a technical team
