About Great River City Light RailWestern Sydney is one of the fastest growing regions in our country, with the population of Greater Parramatta alone set to climb by 50 per cent by 2041 and at Great River City Light Rail we want to create new communities, connect great places and help locals and visitors move around and explore what the region has to offer. The new Light Rail will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, spanning 12 kilometres and utilising state-of-the-art vehicles that delivers comfortable, user-friendly and high-performance services. By 2026, around 28,000 people will use Parramatta Light Rail every day and an estimated 130,000 people will be living within walking distance of light rail stops.
The role
Working with the Rail Safety team, your role will focus on the safety and security of employees, passengers, contractors and the community. This will include investigating incidents and making recommendations to improve systems and ultimately preventing incidents reoccurring. Working closely with the WHS Committee and senior management, you will lead and facilitate risk assessments as well as undertake site inspections / audits and promote our commitment to continuous improvement.
What you bring
In addition to relevant tertiary qualifications (WHS or related), your background will include extensive experience in a similar role. This will be supported by experience in the development and implementation of work, health and safety systems, processes and programs (transport industry preferred). Given the nature of the role you will have the ability to undertake investigative research to obtain clarity and validate information. As well as your collaborative approach you will have the ability to work autonomously and adapt to a fast paced and changing work environment.
