About the role
The Operations Mechanical Engineer will work a 5/2 4/3 FIFO roster from Perth and will be responsible for providing engineering expertise to the operation teams on a day-to-day basis. The site based role ensures that operations have the support to resolve technical issues as they arise and to facilitate and execute of maintenance activities.
In this position you'll:
- Support task planning with the Operations Leadership teams to ensure technical details are understood and coordinated accurately.
- Provide a point of contact for technical clarifications for operation teams.
- Work closely with both in-house and external engineers and designers as required.
- Liaise with vendors as required to resolve technical issues and queries.
- Provide technical guidance to operation teams for process, mechanical, and structural related tasks.
- Site inspections and assistance for offsite managed capital projects.
- Mark up drawings with relevant site changes for submission formal design revisions.
- Assist with purchasing of materials and equipment whilst ensuring compliance.
- Facilitate with any regulatory compliance obligations including classified plant.
- Actively participate with ensuring all activities are planned, managed and completed safely.
Necessary skills and qualifications:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 3-5 experience in engineering and design related role.
- Mining related industry experience working on large projects.
- Ideally have mining project experience including materials handling and process plants.
- Hydraulic calculations (water as minimum and slurry preferred) and understanding of pumping systems.
- Able to read and understand process documentation including P&ID's, PFD's and Process Design Criteria.
- Proficient in reading and understanding mechanical documentation including mechanical design drawings, equipment datasheets, and vendor IOM's.
- High level of computer literacy (operating systems, Office products, engineering tools).
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
