  • Remuneration: Level 7 $106,351 - $115,103 (depending on experience) + 17% super + leave loading
  • Location: Kensington, NSW (flexible hybrid work)

Why your role matters:

The UNSW Centre for Ideas is a part of the Division of Societal Impact, Equity & Engagement. It includes a team of staff responsible for both the Centre for Ideas’ program and for University events. The Centre for Ideas is an initiative that changes the way that the University engages with its communities. It creates a platform for the University’s public and central events to be presented more strategically, cementing the University’s role as a thought leader.

The Producer is responsible for contributing to and managing projects and events for the Centre of Ideas and delivering high quality and impact event and project outcomes.

This role reports to the Program & Events Manager, Centre for Ideas and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities:

  • Participate fully within the Centre for Ideas team, contributing to building a cohesive and effective team that demonstrates a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
  • In collaboration with the Program & Events Manager, manage Centre for Ideas and University events and projects including building, maintaining and reconciling budgets, venue requirements, production requirements, talent management (travel, visas, contracting, briefing), and ticketing requirements.
  • Manage the on-ground delivery of Centre for Ideas and University events and projects including but not limited to venue elements (bump in and bump out), stage management and front of house management.
  • Brief and supervise volunteers, contractors, and casual staff as needed.
  • Contribute to the implementation and utilisation of common systems and procedures for Centre for Ideas and University events to ensure high quality event presentation, consistency and effective use of resources.
  • In collaboration with the Program & Events Manager develop and manage costings and budgets for events at both internal and external venues including engagement of external suppliers and contractors as required.
  • Liaise with marketing and design colleagues to produce accurate event marketing and collateral.
  • Manage, lead, deliver and attend a range of events outside of normal working hours.
  • Maintain internal and external networks to keep abreast of contemporary practices and trends.
  • Consult and collaborate effectively with colleagues across all University divisions, departments and faculties, along with partner organisations.

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience working as a producer in tertiary education, events, media or the arts, or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience producing events from end to end, managing production, ticketing and talent elements.
  • Demonstrated experience of working in complex and fast-moving environment, and working with a wide variety of stakeholders and colleagues to deliver successful events and projects.
  • A collaborative mindset and superior interpersonal skills and with the ability to build and sustain good professional relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage operational budgets effectively.
  • Solid time management, attention to detail and organisational skills including working to multiple and competing deadlines.
  • An understanding of relevant aspects of marketing, publicity, communication and customer relationship management.
  • Demonstrated advanced understanding of marketing, publicity, communication and customer relationship management for an events program in a digital environment.
