If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Health Information Services (HIS) team as a Medico Legal Officer – Release of Information.

As a HIS Medico Legal Officer – Release of Information, you will play a pivotal role in our organisation by facilitating the timely and accurate release of clinical health information in accordance with relevant legislation, NSW Health guidelines, and CCLHD policies. Your responsibilities will include assessing and processing applications for the release of health information, maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality, and ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.

Temporary vacancies include maternity relief positions and should the permanent incumbent require an early return from maternity leave, this contract of employment will cease with two weeks notice. Maternity relief positions can be for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of continued employment for up to a further 12 months for maternity leave reduced hours, therefore there are no claims to permanency.
About You
  • You have strong administrative skills with high level knowledge of medical records processing, preferably with experience in Health Information Services including an electronic medical record (eMR).
  • You have high level knowledge and understanding of legislation (including the Health Records Information Privacy Act 2002), privacy requirements, and health policy in response to release of health information to internal and external requestors.
  • You have demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of work, and prioritise workload efficiently to meet deadlines.
