Our corporate trust business is a leading provider of fiduciary and digital solutions to the banking and financial services industry in Australia and Singapore. It administers securitisation portfolios, investment and debt structures to protect the interests of our clients' investors. Corporate trust supports clients locally and overseas with a unique offering through five key service offerings: Debt Market Services; Managed Fund Services; Perpetual Asia, headquartered in Singapore; Perpetual Digital, which provides data services and software-as-a-service products; and Laminar Capital, which provides fixed income dealing, treasury and advisory services to government organisations, superannuation funds, local councils, ADIs, not-for-profits, wealth managers and sophisticated investors

In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Perpetual Corporate Trust Accounting team in providing accurate and timely accounting services for unregistered managed investment schemes (MITs) and securitisation vehicles. This client facing role provides a unique opportunity to work with global fund managers, private equity and alternative asset management firms, banks and non-bank lending institutions.

About the role

As an Assistant Trust Accountant at Perpetual Corporate Trust, you will:

  • Assist in the preparation of periodic management accounts and annual financial statements.

  • Calculate trust distributions and prepare distribution statements.

  • Perform account reconciliations and prepare journals.

  • Preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS).

  • Assist with the audit of annual financial statements.

  • Assist with review of trust tax returns and Annual Investment Income reports.

  • Assist with preparation of budgets and liquidity forecasts.

  • Respond to accounting enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.

  • Support the Trust Accountants/Senior Trust Accountants and the Senior Accounting Manager on the delivery of Trust accounting services.

  • Maintain relationships with clients.

  • Provide support to team members, Senior Accounting Manager and General Manager on projects and other key initiatives.

About you

  • University accounting degree and studying towards being a qualified accountant (CA or CPA).

  • 1 to 2 years experience in chartered accounting firm (required).

  • Working knowledge of managed funds and Securitisation would be an advantage.

  • Understanding of tax legislation for trusts in Australia would be an advantage.

  • Auditing experience would be an advantage.

  • Microsoft Word, Excel and Accounting Systems (XERO).

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.

  • Ability to multitask with good time management.

  • Effective problem-solving skills.

  • Interest in process optimization.

  • Collaborates effectively within a team.

  • Eager to learn and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
