Description:
- Dynamic role that provides variety in a stock-based role
- Involvement in all aspects of a busy feedlot
- Comfortable accommodation close to Armidale, NSW
The Role
An experienced stockperson is sought for an all-round feedlot role within a very successful and large cattle breeding business in the fertile Northern Tablelands of NSW. Reporting to the Feedlot Manager and working within a tight-knit team of three, you will be involved in every element of the feedlot whilst having a passion for cattle and quality low-stress stock handling skills.
Diversity is a highlight of this role, undertaking stock induction and dispatch, feed batching, feeding out with tractors and feed mixers, and pen riding; therefore, candidates with their own quality stock horses are encouraged to apply. Quality communication, attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills are also essential for this role.
At times, when the feedlot is at a lower capacity, you will be kept busy undertaking general farmhand duties during the overall cattle breeding operation. Spread across five properties totalling 19,500 hectares and a carrying capacity of 18,000 Shorthorn/Angus, there will be no shortage of stock work as well as general infrastructure maintenance and repair. Some mechanical aptitude and fabrication ability will be considered advantageous.
You must be seeking long-term employment and be willing to learn and grow in your role with potential career opportunities within this successful company. Your dedication will be rewarded with ongoing training and guidance to further develop your industry knowledge and expertise.
The Offer
A well-appointed 3-bedroom cottage provides easy access to primary school and bus to high school. An attractive salary package will be negotiated with the successful applicant commensurate with skills and experience. Penalty rates are paid for all overtime for weekend rosters.
Located just fifty kilometres outside the regional centre of Armidale, you will have easy access to all required amenities and services, including a university and an airport.
The Ideal Candidate
This role is best suited to a passionate stockperson who enjoys variety in their role and has the following attributes:
- Quality low-stress stock skills
- Own reliable stock horses (advantageous)
- Own quality working dogs (advantageous)
- Strong communication, time management and record-keeping skills
- Mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills (preferable)
