The Joombarn-buru Aboriginal Corporation (' JbAC' ) is a prescribed body corporate established and operating since 2021 (ICN 9583).

Its core function is to manage the Native Title Rights and Interests of the Joombarn-buru People, which oversees 940 square kilometres of exclusive and non-exclusive possession of native title.

We aim to preserve culture, provide Indigenous employment opportunities, and operate as an influential organisation with strong internal and external communication channels.

The role :

The role of general manager is critical to the success of the corporation. Reporting to the JbAC Board in a full-time capacity, ensuring that all financial, legal, compliance, and management obligations are met.

The responsibilities :

We are seeking a general manager with experience at an executive level or a proven leader looking to step up into an executive role who will possess the core skills required to ensure success.

The general manager is primarily responsible for :

  • The overall and general management of the JbAC
  • Supports the Implementation of the strategy approved by the JbAC Board and ensures that JbAC’s structure and processes meet the strategic and cultural needs of the JbAC; and
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the JbAC organisation, its people, and its resources.
  • Annual Airfare Allowance after 12-months of service;
  • Air Conditioning Subsidy

Selection Criteria :

  • Possession of an appropriate qualification and / or relevant experience to fulfil the responsibilities of the position.
  • Extensive knowledge of Aboriginal culture and Indigenous affairs with relevant experience in a leadership role in an Indigenous field and / or organisation.
  • Experience dealing with Members of Parliament, representatives of government departments, business partners, and community leaders at a high level.
  • Ability to think strategically at a high level in complex and conflicting environments, set priorities, and delegate tasks with strong and decisive leadership skills.
  • Record of accomplishment in effectively implementing policy and strategy set by a board.
  • Organization or community engagement and development experience and demonstrated success in delivering significant organisational outcomes.
  • Experience in the financial and resource management of Indigenous or other community-based organisations.
  • Proven capacity in high-level strategic planning and policy analysis.
  • Demonstrated the ability to lead and manage staff performance, which improved capability in an organisation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Australian Federal Police clearance.
  • Current WA Drivers Licence.
  • Valid Working with Children’s Check.

Note : A valid C’ class drivers licence, Working with Children (WWC), and police c learance will be required prior to successful employment.
