The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking an Education Supervisor to provide a critical role at Hume Region - Beechworth Correctional Centre.

About the Business Unit

Corrections Victoria is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's corrections system, which incorporates prisons and Community Correctional Services. Beechworth Correctional Centre is a minimum security prison for men located in Beechworth, Victoria and focuses on prisoner re-integration into the community.

In the prison environment, the Education Supervisor manages the delivery of educational services to prisoners, within the unique operational environment of a correctional facility. The Education Supervisor role requires a strong focus on organising and planning, relationship building, stakeholder management and both written and verbal communication skills.

About the Role

The Education Supervisor works within the Programs team to coordinate and support the operational relationship between education providers and prison program areas. Developing, implementing, and managing prison processes at Beechworth Correctional Centre to maximize opportunities for prisoner participation in education and learning programs, whilst also identifying process improvements where required. .

Some of your duties will include:

  • Deliver and manage distance education support services to prisoners and coordinate assessments regarding prisoners' capacity to participate in distance education.
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting on the prison's compliance with the relevant service delivery outcome requirements and identifying and resolving any issues relating to non-compliance.
  • Negotiate with and manage education providers to deliver services in accordance with contractual obligations and resolve service delivery issues where required.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in the coordination of operational service delivery across a variety of business units and program areas, including service performance monitoring and reporting (preferred but not essential).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience within an education environment (preferred but not essential).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience within a correctional environment (preferred but not essential).

Qualifications

  • Experience in an educational environment (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience in working in a diverse environment driven by needs and focused outcomes.
  • Experience in delivering services within an energetic environment, meeting relevant timelines standards would be an advantage.
  • A Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (preferred but not essential).
