The role

We need your expertise to pioneer this new and exciting role within our Tasmanian workers compensation business. In the role of Claims Specialist - RTW Support you will provide acute hands-on return to work (RTW) support, advice and education to our customers and teams to improve RTW outcomes and deliver a positive customer experience. You will engage directly with key stakeholders, participating in worksite visits and medical case conferences, to collaboratively plan, initiate and/or progress RTW in a safe and timely manner. Additionally, you will support small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) employers with early claim activities and RTW education.

You'll be responsible for

  • Collaborating with Team Managers, Injury Management Coordinators and Case Managers to pinpoint higher-risk claims requiring hands-on Return-to-Work (RTW) support to overcome barriers to recovery at work.
  • Interacting face-to-face, virtually, and verbally with workers, employers, treating practitioners, and providers to jointly devise and execute a personalised and comprehensive RTW solution.
  • Participating in worksite visits and medical case conferences, as appropriate, to strategize, initiate, and advance RTW in a safe, timely, and durable manner.
  • Aiding the Case Manager in executing the agreed RTW strategy by implementing targeted rehabilitation and other interventions, as well as prompt approvals when necessary.
  • Ensuring an empathetic and positive service experience for all workers, employers, and external providers.
  • Assisting SME employers through early claim activities and the RTW process, providing support and education where needed to enhance their capability and improve claim outcomes.

About you

  • Recent or previous experience in managing workplace or other personal injuries, including roles in case management, workplace rehabilitation, RTW coordination, Injury Management Coordination, or equivalent
  • A Certificate IV in Personal Injury Management, Diploma of Personal Injury & Disability Insurance Management, or a relevant Allied Health degree is high desirable.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building effective relationships, influencing, and negotiating with stakeholders to attain positive RTW outcomes and deliver high levels of customer service.
  • Capable of making independent decisions and collaborating effectively in both anticipated and unexpected situations, taking responsibility for the consequences of those decisions.
  • Exhibit high levels of coordination, flexibility, and autonomy in professional endeavours.
