Job Description

AFR Live, the events arm of The Australian Financial Review , has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join the team as an Event Manager. We are seeking a proactive professional who embodies confidence and initiative, showcasing a self-starter mentality. The ideal candidate will be ready to step into an Event Manager position and bring a positive 'can-do' attitude, demonstrating a passion for delivering exceptional events and a drive to overcome challenges with enthusiasm and resourcefulness.

Day to day you will:

  • Lead the operational planning and delivery of your portfolio of events including AFR Summits and AFR Lists gala award dinners.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams, including Program Directors, Marketing, Partnerships, and Editorial, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of objectives.
  • Efficiently manage event registrations alongside the Registration Manager, utilising the EventsAir platform and promptly address customer service queries through dedicated event mailboxes.
  • Liaise and coordinate with multiple external stakeholders including suppliers and guest speakers to ensure high-quality service/product delivery.
  • Coordinate and oversee the execution of virtual streaming of the events, including managing technical aspects, building sponsor pages, troubleshooting potential issues to deliver a high-quality online experience for participants.
  • Lead onsite event management, including bump in and bump out logistics, venue and security liaison, editorial support, and assistance at the registration desk.
  • Develop and manage all event collateral, such as runsheets, timelines, floorplans, budgets and powerpoint slides.

Qualifications

What we would like to see on your resume:

  • Proven experience in managing multiple corporate event operations.
  • Ability to excel under pressure, willing to connect the dots in an environment of rapid change and tight deadlines.
  • Possess keen attention to detail, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong time management skills, adept at effectively managing competing priorities.
  • Track record of working with budgets.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience using an event registration system such as EventsAir desirable, but not essential
  • Proficiency with both G-Suite and Office Suite would be highly advantageous
