About the role

The Supervisor Payroll role is responsible for supervising the payroll function and employees associated with the processing of all manual and automated payments, whilst ensuring compliance with all related legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring accurate, eligibility and timeliness of all payroll related payments in terms of Awards, EBA's, Employment Contracts, organisational policies and other relevant legislation
  • Supervise and assist in reconciling payroll tax, PAYG, superannuation, child support, share plan and other payroll deductions
  • Oversee and assist in quarterly, annual and ad-hoc payments
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of enhancements to the organisation's payroll system and procedures
  • Supervising payroll officers and administrators including training and development and performance reviews
  • Undertake tasks with internal and external auditors
  • Ensuring accurate preparation of month end & end of year activities
  • Resolving/answering queries and escalations relating to payroll from relevant stakeholders across the business

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification (desired)
  • Strong background in payroll, with at least 4-6 years of relevant experience, preferably in the mining and resources industry
  • Knowledge of legislative requirements in respect of PAYG, FBT, payroll tax and EEO principles
  • Sound understanding of Industrial Award/Enterprise Agreements, organisation's payroll system and salary grades
  • Strong leadership ability, excellent communication and well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills
