About The Opportunity
If you want to help drive change and innovation within a dedicated team of people this is the job for you. The position of Technical Assistant in Cytology will be a challenging and fulfilling role. Cytology is a subsection of Anatomical Pathology, and you will be working with group of 5 highly experience scientists.
The successful candidate will be assisting in the triage, troubleshooting and preparation of both gynaecological and non-gynaecological samples. In addition, the role will include laboratory housekeeping duties, stock maintenance, record keeping, filing and compliance with mandatory training modules. Previous working experience in cytology would be desirable, however training will be provided for the suitable candidate.
The position is located on the Randwick site of NSW Health Pathology.The surrounding area has beautiful beaches, cafes and many open green spaces; with direct transport access from central station via bus and the new tram system. The Randwick precinct is progressing into an area for both advanced academia, diagnostic medical work, and research.
The site includes Prince of Wales Public hospital, Prince of Wales Private Hospital, Royal Hospital for Women, and the Sydney Children’s Hospital.

Perform a range of laboratory support and/or specimen reception services and/or collection services, and provide assistance to laboratory staff, under supervision, to deliver a patient focused service.

- Demonstrated exposure and practical knowledge of anatomical pathology, either histology or cytology

This is a Category A position.
