About the role

Grampians Health- Ballarat are currently seeking applications for an Accredited Registrar within the Obstetrics & Gynaecology department for the 2025 Clinical Year. The role is suited to senior O and G applicants (level 5 or 6 RANZCOG trainee).

The O&G department sees approximately 1500 deliveries each year and has 2 caesarean and 6 gynaecology theatre sessions each week.

The role will involve primary operating under supervision with a general gynaecology and obstetrics focus. Previous registrars in this role have gained competence in vaginal repair, vaginal hysterectomy, total laparoscopic hysterectomy and abdominal hysterectomy, as well as in general more minor gynaecology operations if needed for skill development. There is monthly urogynaecologist and gynaecological oncology operating and weekly ultrasound sessions with DDU qualified obstetrician.

There will also be skill development which is suitable for transition to general obstetrician gynaecology consultancy, including clinical governance and risk management training, the opportunity for university student teaching, and access to growing research in the unit with collaboration with international trials.

We welcome both full and part time applications. We have a supportive unit culture focused on patient safety as well as staff wellbeing and development, in order to allow staff to thrive.
