UTS North Sydney is one of twenty clubs within the NSW Premier Cricket men's competition, and also competes in NSW Women's Premier Cricket.

With a strong, young senior playing squad, we are looking for an inspirational and values-driven Men's First Grade Coach who will shape, develop and lead the playing group with the key aim of developing a team and squad which is challenging for First Grade Premierships in all formats within the next three years. The successful applicant will have demonstrated a successful track record of leading and developing players through embedding a high-performance culture at Premier Cricket level or equivalent. They will have proven success in creating a collaborative, supportive, incusive and standards-driven team ethos at the appropriate level for Premier Cricket.

The role will be responsible for implementing player development plans for the First Grade and senior playing group, which develop the long-term capability of our players to compete consistently and successfully in Premier Cricket. The Men's First Grade Coach will work with the coaching team on and off the field to the highest possible standard of excellence and professionalism, enhancing the UTS North Sydney brand and reputation.

Reponsibilities:

  • Build a culture and style of play promoting enjoyment, unity and commitment to starards which contributes to player development and consistent high performance of the First Grade men's team in all competitions (Belvidere Cup, Limited Overs Cup and Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup).
  • Provide hands-on technical expertise to assist with the conducting of net sessions and fielding pracice to ensure that the highest level of player development and performance is achieved and maintained.
  • Plan and execute First Grade match day duties, including but not limited to warm-ups, pre-game tactics and in-game coaching.
  • In consultation with the broader coaching group, create and implement individual player performance plans for the senior playing group, through facilitating a collaborative and supportive environment where each player has clarity of expectation to maximise their development.
  • In collaboration with the broader coaching team, devise, implement and manage an effective pre-season and in-season training program across the club.
  • Role model and proactively develop a positive, values-driven environment that demonstrates a "club-first" attitude.
  • Contribute to higher grade selection decisions, working alongside captains, other coaches and selectors.
  • Support the Director of Men's Cricket and other club coaches with player and club reviews during and at the conclusion of the season.
  • Consistently adhere to the relevant standards, rules and regulations, policies and procedures, including the Cricket NSW Integrity Framework.

Person specification:

  • Demonstrated success of coaching and player development at Premier Cricket level (or equivalent).
  • A clear, demonstrated, successful track record of working within a team, leading and embedding a positive culture with an ability to motivate and inspire, and remaining calm under pressure.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships across the Club and its stakeholders with a clear, honest and tailored approach to communication.
  • Ability to manage individual player development, including setting clear objectives and challenging expectations, with an understanding of long-term player development and accountability.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Commitment to keeping up-to-date with innovative techniques and to proactively share knowledge.

Contract duration: 1-year fixed term contract with option to extend, starting 15 July 2024.

Weekly hours: As required, including regular trainings (weekly pre-season, up to twcie weekly during the season on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons/evenings) and matchday attendance at all First Grade matches (every Saturday and some Sundays from September to March).

Location: North Sydney Oval, with travel to away matches as per the cricket schedule and training at an alternative location where required due to bad weather.
