Role:

As the School Support Officer you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Responding to escalated students utilising evidence-based practices to assist the student to utilise their identified strategies to safely de-escalate and re-engage in learning.
  • Developing and implementing programs to address identified social and other skill deficits resulting in at risk behaviours and limiting academic progress.
  • Contributing, as part of the Student Engagement Team, to identify, implement and review strategies and plans to address identified student need.
  • Fostering and nurturing of positive and effective relationships with all stakeholders, including; the student, family members, teachers, internal support staff and external agencies.
  • Undertake supervision duties, if required, before, during and after school.
  • Maintain quality in the performance of all allocated tasks, ensuring adherence to school and Education Queensland processes, procedures and policies, while continually seeking feedback and improvements in the way work is undertaken.
  • Participate in professional development sessions in areas relevant to work programs and expectations.

You will be assessed by looking at what you have done previously-the knowledge, skills and experience you have built, your potential for development, and your personal qualities.

The School Support Officer is line managed by the Deputy Principal, School Culture.
