Belridge Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a dedicated Human Resources Officer to join our friendly team.

The role of the Human Resource Officer is to provide a comprehensive human resource service to all college staff. This includes support and advice on human resource legislation, policies, and procedures.

A priority of this role is to coordinate teacher relief and leave management on a daily basis, ensuring classes are covered. An understanding of staff timetabling and rostering processes is important. The ability to work flexible hours to meet the demand of teacher relief is advantageous. You will coordinate the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS), process relief payments and assist in the implementation of staff inductions, probation, compliance with Working with Children (WWC), The Teacher Registration Board (TRB) and on-line professional learning.

You will also ideally collaborate with executive staff on recruitment activities such as deployment, selection, and appointment process for teaching and support staff. You should collaborate with the executive team on the development and implementation of strategic human resources solutions to workforce planning, attraction and retention, succession planning, and budget and establishment management. The ideal applicant should possess the ability to contribute to continuous improvement and innovation for the school.

The successful applicant will ideally have sound written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, as well as an eye for detail and problem-solving skills. They should be highly organised, be able to meet deadlines, and implement strategy and manage human resource systems and processes.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of human resource management systems and processes.
  • Sound written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with staff and work within a team environment.
  • Sound knowledge and skills in human resource management, including research, planning and recruitment practices.
  • Conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills and the ability to implement appropriate strategies.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Employees will be required to :

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
