About the Role

Western Health has nearly 40 Hospital Medical (BPT1) Officer positions (PGY2/Medical) available for the 2025 Clinical Year.

Western Health offers a highly supportive, clinically rich, and professionally exciting environment in which to train. A dedicated education program tailored to basic training, includes 4 hours per week of structured teaching, in addition to Grand rounds, simulation-based training, and numerous professional development workshops.

Western Health offers the following rotations as an HMO2/PGY2 Medical (BPT1):

  • Cardiology
  • Dermatology
  • Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology
  • GEM/Subacute
  • Haematology
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Intensive Care
  • Neurology
  • Oncology
  • Orthogeriatrics
  • Psychiatry (Orygen)
  • Rheumatology

Applications:

Western Health Basic Physician Training (BPT) positions are recruited as part of the PMCV Match. Applicants must apply to both PMCV and Western Health. Please note, PMCV eligibility criteria apply.

Please note; if you are successful for a Basic Physician Trainee role, you will be required to enrol with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) by March 2025.

If you do not register with the college, you will potentially jeopardise your training, as your BPT1 rotation allocations may not meet the new National Framework for Prevocational Medical Training requirements. For further details please refer to https://www.pmcv.com.au/nfpmt/.
