About the department:

An exciting opportunity currently exists for enthusiastic & highly experienced Research Fellows to join the Department of Clinical Haematology and work with the Cancer Clinical Trials Centre (CCTC) at Austin Health from February 2025.

The Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre has been established at Austin Health to provide a holistic approach to cancer treatment and care, wellness, and research, with a state-of-the-art cancer centre. Cancer Services is responsible for inpatient and ambulatory medical oncology and clinical haematology, palliative care medicine and radiation oncology. The Cancer Clinical Trials Centre has over 200 trials and is a vibrant and growing unit. Incorporated within the ONJ Centre are strong undergraduate and graduate teaching programs.


CCTC conducts a wide variety of trials nationally and internationally and has a reputation for excellence. The CCTC manages studies from Phase I to Phase III and includes investigator-initiated research, Collaborative Group and Pharmaceutical sponsored clinical trials. The atmosphere within CCTC is energetic, friendly, and cohesive, with a strong teamwork ethic amongst all members with regular meetings and investigators to discuss management issues.

About the role:

Applicants are sought from trainees who are interested in developing Clinical Trial expertise in Clinical Haematology. These positions will commence in February 2025 for a period of 12 months. These positions are suitable for Advanced Trainees entering their fourth year of Advanced Training, or candidates who are anticipated to have their Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians by February 2025. Successful candidates may have an opportunity to extend their position for a further 12 months upon re-application.

To be successful in this role you must:

Be a Medical Practitioner with current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration, or equivalent international qualification with appropriate recognition from AHPRA

Undergoing or hold specialist qualifications in Clinical Haematology with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), or equivalent international qualification with appropriate recognition from RACP

Knowledge & experience in Clinical Haematology, in particular management of haematologic malignancies
