The Global Big Data Technologies Centre (GBDTC) in the Faculty of Engineering and IT is an international centre of excellence for the development of enabling technologies for big data science and analytics, working closely with industry and communities to deliver real-world impact.
About the role
Funded by ARC Linkage Project (LP), this position for a Postdoctoral Research Associate is pivotal in advancing the development of AI-based algorithms aimed for estimating concrete workability. This ARC LP strengthens FEIT’s collaboration with the concrete industry, synergising with FEIT's extensive involvement in the Smartcrete CRC. The postdoc has the potential to become an academic staff member within FEIT, thereby significantly making contributions to cross-disciplinary research collaboration between GBDTC, the School of Electrical and Data Engineering, and the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, particularly for future large-scale industry projects.
About you
As a Postdoctoral Research Associate , you will have demonstrated track record of significant research and achievements. You will have strong expertise in image processing, computer vision and pattern recognition for practical problem-solving, as well as sophisticated oral and written communication skills.
To be successful in this role you will also have:
- Doctoral qualifications in the field of computer vision, image processing and pattern recognition
- Prior research experience in the field of computer vision and pattern recognition
- Strong track record of involvement in industry projects and, if applicable, patent filing.
- Demonstrated history of peer-reviewed publications in high ranked journals and Conferences
- Previous experience in developing algorithms and prototypes for video content analysis and multimedia mobile applications.
- Proficiency in supervising and teaching graduate students at both PhD and honours levels

Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $89,818 to $109,393 pa (Level A)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a two -year fixed-term basis.
