About the role:
The overall purpose of the Family Support Worker is to provide therapeutic assistance to individuals, families, and groups with social, emotional and financial difficulties to improve positive wellbeing by educating and supporting them and working towards enhancing their community connectedness. The role will ensure the best interest of the individual client is always central and they are referred through to the most appropriate internal or external service.
This is a Permanent Full Time role working 76 hours per fortnight based at our Riverview location servicing the Ipswich & Brisbane South East region.
The successful candidate will help individuals and families, primarily presenting with financial difficulties as well as social and emotional difficulties. Through a holistic assessment, immediate support around financial stress and onward referrals to meet an individual’s needs we aim to support client in improving their immediate circumstance and increase positive wellbeing.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct intake assessments via phone, online, and face-to-face.
  • Conduct risk assessments, maintain records, and provide outreach services.
  • Negotiate fees with clients and comply with quality standards and legislative requirements.
  • Advocate for client rights and contribute to education packages.
  • Maintain caseload, collaborate with agencies, and prepare reports.
  • Meet service targets and participate in meetings and supervision.
  • Contribute to policy development, data collection, and research.
  • Work with individuals, families and couples to increase self-awareness and knowledge of issues that impact on relationships and parenting and assist with skill development
  • Participate in data collection, research, service planning and associated projects as directed

Required Qualifications and Credentials
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Community Services or equivalent
  • Current Blue Card
  • Current Licenced Care Service (LCS)
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the service region
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of standard business hours and provide on-call support as required

About You:
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a child-focused and whole of family framework
  • Able to work within established processes and positively engage with clients in a supportive role
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to consult, advise and liaise effectively with a diverse range of people
  • Organisational and time management skills, able to meet conflicting priorities and deadlines
  • Capacity to work independently, use initiative and also be an effective team member
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook, and database applications
