Description:

The purpose of the Principal Communications Officer is to provide communication project oversight and management to ensure effective delivery of integrated communication and engagement campaigns and activities.

Key Outcomes And Accountabilities

The aim of this role is to:

  • Interpret complex information and understand the internal and external environments, including auditing of existing assets, to develop high-quality and engaging communication and stakeholder materials for a variety of audiences
  • Cultivate an innovative and creative approach to external and internal communications and engagement.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with senior leaders across the agency, confidently providing strategic advice and leveraging relationships to maximise the impact of communication plans.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a busy multi-disciplinary team, delivering results effectively with fellow communication, events, multimedia, stakeholder engagement, digital and social media specialists.
  • Deliver high-quality communication material and collateral in support of the QBCC's strategic objectives.
  • Provide advice on the effective use of traditional, digital and online communication methods as well as targeted engagement opportunities
  • Prepare submissions, reports, briefing material and general correspondence for senior management.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of communications and make recommendations and improvements to enhance the effectiveness of campaigns and activities.
  • Provide communications project oversight and management to ensure effective delivery of integrated communication and engagement campaigns and activities.


Candidate Attributes

  • Extensive experience in a communications role with experience in leading end to end communication and engagement projects within an organisation that has a geographically dispersed workforce.
  • Qualifications in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or equivalent is highly desirable .
  • Significant experience in the development and delivery of a range of communication and engagement strategies, events and training initiatives.
  • Sound organisational skills and ability to meet flexible and demanding short-term deadlines while maintaining discipline over delivery of ongoing work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • A positive, analytical and proactive approach to resolving problems and identifying improvement opportunities.
