About the CIO Division
The CIO Division is an exciting, fast-paced division that drives the digital agenda for the Department of Industry, Science, and Resources. Leading the delivery of the department's digital offerings, the CIO Division partners with business areas and stakeholders to:

  • Realise the digital policy objectives of the department
  • Define the department's digital landscape and strategies
  • Drive innovation and transformation of ICT services and solutions.

The Digital Services for Business Branch delivers whole of government digital services to support Australian businesses. Our users are at the centre of everything we do; we work closely with our business partners and other agencies to improve the business experience through simpler and faster digital government services.

About the Section
The Whole of Government Systems Section is a highly motivated and multi-disciplinary section within the Digital Services for Business Branch in the CIO Division.

The section is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of a variety of whole of government digital systems and business applications for policy areas. The section also delivers a variety of application development projects for internal clients.

The opportunity
This recruitment round is seeking to fill an immediate Delivery Manager position at the Executive Level 1 within the Whole of Government Systems team.

Delivery Managers play a key part of the division's leadership group as we deliver digital and ICT solutions to Australian public, across the APS, and to departmental staff. Successful candidates will be responsible for leading teams to drive the realisation of the Digital Strategy 2023-26, drive strategic engagement, continuous improvement, and digital service delivery.

The key duties of the position include
As a Delivery Manager, you will:

  • manage and lead a diverse, multi-disciplinary team to deliver outcomes, including providing clear and consistent communication, and building capability in the team.
  • partner with business areas across the department to:
    • deliver high quality digital services and develop strategic future-focussed product roadmaps;
    • to inform the future of the department's ICT services and;
    • guide financial investment decisions.
  • develop and implement workplans that provide strategic direction for the work area, including the management and allocation of resourcing.
  • manage the accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements.
  • develop and implement release management plans.
  • proactively manage risks and issues including the management of incident management risk and processes.
  • build and maintain positive working relationships with our delivery partners, technical experts and stakeholders across the division, department, and government.
  • lead change and build organisational capability, focusing on continuous improvement, innovation, and mentoring junior staff members.
  • manage financial budgets, lead procurement and recruitment activities.
  • provide strategic support, guidance, and leadership toward divisional, departmental and Whole-of-Government priorities.
