CCQ delivers the primary health network (PHN) program for the Central Queensland, Wide Bay and Sunshine Coast region on behalf of the Commonwealth Department of Health. CCQ has an ambitious agenda to design and deliver better primary health services for the people in their region. Achieving this will require CCQ as a commissioning organisation to not only focus on primary health service provision but also on other health determinants which support communities to live their best lives.
The Senior Manager will lead the local primary health team to foster, develop and maintain effective working relationships with primary health care providers, Hospital & Health Services, community organisations and local health care professionals.
The role will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to progress opportunities for reform and drive initiatives that improve health outcomes in the region.

CCQ’s diverse region covers 161,108 km2 from Sunshine Coast to Rockhampton and west to Emerald. The population in the region is just under 1M people with around 68% living regionally or remotely and more than 28% living in the most disadvantaged quintile. CCQ collaborates with the community to provide exceptional primary healthcare services to reduce health inequalities for the region. CCQ has seven key priorities for health improvement: mental health, alcohol and other drugs, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, population health, health workforce, digital health and older person’s health.
The Wide Bay is a stunning location to live in with beautiful beaches and surrounding bushland for getting out into nature, it is also home to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Island K’gari (formerly Fraser Island) and the Southern Great Barrier Reef.

It offers a relaxed and family friendly environment to live and work. Our larger towns like Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and Maryborough have great local health and education facilities while still offering small town charm. There is something for everyone in the Wide Bay.
About the role
The key responsibility of this role involves managing stakeholder relationships, leading a team of primary health coordinators, working on reform and change within the organisation, delivering results, having a knowledge of the health system and project management.
The ideal person will have a good understanding of the health system, experience in health care and relevant tertiary qualifications. Work with the Director and CCQ’s networks, partnerships and alliances with key stakeholders including primary healthcare providers, Hospital & Health Service, social service providers, consumers and communities to champion systems and service reform, identify opportunities for collaboration, and drive integrated approaches to improve health outcomes.
