Description:
We're looking for a passionate and experienced OOSH Behaviour & Inclusion Support Specialist to join our team at Greater West Childcare. As a full-time specialist, you'll be responsible for creating an inclusive environment for children with diverse needs, supporting positive behaviours, mentoring our staff in behaviour management strategies, and promoting respect and understanding among all children in our care.
In this role, you'll work closely with our educators and families to develop individualised strategies and support plans for children with behavioural challenges or special needs. You'll provide guidance and training to our team to help them better understand and respond to the unique needs of each child. You will also complete applications for funding specific to inclusion support efforts to ensure that we are able to adequately provide for the needs of our children. Your goal will be to ensure that all children feel safe, supported, and included in our programs, so they can thrive and reach their full potential.
We currently have two Out of School Hours care centres within our organisation, and you will work a combination of different shifts across both services, working to support all families and staff across both centres in the area of child behaviours. This may expand to additional centres in the future as we grow. You will also fill the role of a Responsible Person at both centres.
To excel in this role, you'll need to have a good understanding of child development, behaviour management techniques, and inclusive practices. You should be able to communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues, and have a positive and patient demeanor. Ideally, you'll have previous experience working with children with diverse needs, and (although not required) a relevant qualification or training in education, counseling, behaviour therapy, or a related field. For those who don't currently hold a relevant qualification, we will be looking to provide up-skilling opportunities in this area.
Experience & Character Qualities:
- Experience working with children with diverse needs and behaviour conditions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of child development and behaviour management techniques
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
- An understanding of child safety / child protection, and a desire to foster and maintain a child safe culture
Necessary Qualifications:
- Valid Working With Children Check
- National Criminal History Check
- First Aid certificate & CPR up to date (incl. HLTAID012)
- Child Protection Training (CHCPRT025)

The starting salary for this role is $72,000 however there is flexibility for the right candidate with appropriate experience and/or qualifications. In addition, we will consider allowances for travel as you will be travelling between multiple locations regularly.
