How will I help?

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, and enthusiastic person with solid analysis and interpersonal skills to join Westpac Institutional Bank in the Customer Insights & Analytics team in Perth / Sydney / Brisbane / Melbourne focusing on corporate and institutional clients within the Natural Resources sector as part of the Energy, Infrastructure & Resources Division. The team has an inclusive culture that supports learning, with both formal training and mentorships available, and encourages collaboration.

The primary responsibility of this credit analyst role is to efficiently manage a portfolio of clients across the natural resources sector, including the origination process for new transactions and the ongoing monitoring and management of the customer portfolio as the primary credit analyst.

You will:

  • Build relationships and establish rapport with clients and with internal stakeholders;
  • Ensuring that all aspects of the credit process, including the required due diligence, are properly executed;
  • Write credit submissions including detailed risk analysis and financial forecasting, and be able to present and negotiate submissions through WIB's risk management decision process;
  • Test proposals against approved business and credit strategies, target market acceptance criteria and underwriting standards;
  • Bring your banking experience and/or depth of industry knowledge to lead, coach and develop the team's overall expertise.

What do I need?

You will have solid experience in institutional banking or a related field, ideally with experience in credit writing and financial analysis. You will have knowledge and a passion for working in the Natural Resources Sector in a technical capacity. You will demonstrate strong attention to detail and relationship building ability with a variety of stakeholders and external clients. Some more skills which are advantageous are:

  • Experience applying a risk mindset, and commercial acumen.
  • Knowledge of how to build customer relationships and experience in managing customers would be beneficial.
  • Tertiary qualified in a relatable technical
