Monash Simulation delivers a wide range of simulation for health professionals at all levels (in-situ and Centre- based courses), designed to enhance individuals’ skills, inter-professional teamwork and the translation of these into optimal patient care. The Simulation Centre, located in Moorabbin Hospital, has recently been extensively renovated and now includes immersive simulation suites, as well as multiple debriefing and skills rooms and has the capacity and technology to run high level complex inter-professional and simulation education courses.

We utilise simulation to support our medical, nursing and allied health cohorts and ensure we deliver best practice training and development to our frontline clinical teams. As part of our journey, we’re now looking for a passionate and committed professional to assist our pursuit of excellence in the simulation field.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to grow a simulation service across the health service by building collaborative partnerships with clinical and education teams focused on patient and service outcomes. The simulation service will utilise the full range of simulation modalities, and be leveraged by fostering strong teaching and research partnerships with other simulation centres and universities. You will be managing a team of dynamic nursing educators and sim technicians and fellows, managing simulation equipment and assisting with the design and provision of courses. Your role includes training and building the capacity of others to provide high quality centre-based and in-situ simulation across the network. This role is available at 0.80 FTE and could be combined with a fractional clinical position at Monash Health to a maximum of 1 FTE.

About You

While you may not have managed a simulation service before, you have certainly gained significant experience in the field and are a passionate educator. You enjoy the challenge that comes from leading and driving simulation education and change and in particular, you can demonstrate:

  • High level expertise in simulation education across a wide range of simulation modalities;
  • High level knowledge of sim mannequin technology and have worked with simulated and hybrid simulation patients
  • Have the ability to meet organisational learning needs
  • Previous experience in implementing and evaluating high quality simulation programs including training others in simulation techniques;
  • Exceptional ability to lead, collaborate and innovate, bringing your colleagues on the journey with you;
  • An interest or expertise in simulation research;
  • Previous experience in quality improvement or patient safety highly desirable; and
  • High level expertise in critical care nursing clinical skills highly desirable.

You are enthusiastic and energetic, with a natural ability to think creatively and work collaboratively with others to find innovative solutions.

You may hold advanced qualifications in a nursing critical care area, medicine or paramedicine supported by the relevant AHPRA registration. Academic qualifications in simulation, health professions education, education or management will be highly regarded.
