About the role:

An exciting and unique opportunity to join Box Hill Institute as our Literacy and Numeracy Skills Coordinator. The Literacy and Numeracy Skills Coordinator leads the design, development, delivery and evaluation of innovative, customised, high quality vocational education and training for BHI students and clients.

Within this role you will manage teaching and the business, supporting employees along with programs to ensure innovative course materials and excellent training delivery to students. Success in the position will result in a high performing and engaged team, student achievement and improved education and employment outcomes, compliance and quality education and the development of opportunities to grow market share.

The Literacy and Numeracy Skills Coordinator is a member of the leadership team in the Microcredentials, ACFE, Reconnect and LN Support (MARL) unit and is part of the Foundation Education College. Our courses provide pathways into further education and employment, and help to increase life and employability skills. Full-time, part-time, on-campus, blended, work-based and online delivery options exist to suit the needs of our students and industry partners.

Note: This role is full time, fixed term until March 2025 and requires 38 hours, 5 days a week attendance, and will include 0.4 EFT teaching duties.


About You:

  • A recognised and accredited Adult Language and/or Numeracy and Literacy teaching qualification at AQF7 or above
  • Course of teacher training at diploma level which includes supervised teaching practice
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or a qualification at diploma level or higher in Adult Education. Desirable: eligible for/or current VIT Registration
  • Experience in planning and researching for the preparation of programs and learning materials, in the identification of setting standards, and well-developed skills in transferring knowledge including the ability to research, select, and use a wide range of learning resources and assessment tools that would ensure a successful training program.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and motivating a high-performance team of teaching employees, managing performance, facilitating development and providing feedback and coaching improving productivity and performance.
  • Proven experience leading and managing teaching programs that comply with relevant quality standards with a strong understanding of competency based training and assessment. Demonstrated experience applying and coaching employees on teaching methodologies, techniques and standards appropriate to subject areas.
  • Listens and delivers on client needs, actively seeks new ways to continuously improve services to deliver high quality outcomes for clients and building trusting relationships.
