We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Strategy & Energy Market Analyst to join our Strategy & Market Analysis team in Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne office on a Permanent Full-Time basis.

Reporting to the Manager - Strategy & Market Analysis, you will be contributing high quality quantitative analysis and insights into the development, implementation and governance of energy market modelling tools and platforms in support of APA's corporate strategy and vision.

We are looking for an individual with a desire to contribute to how the energy system reduces carbon emissions and interest in Strategy discipline. The successful candidate to this newly created role will join an integrated and collaborative team who work together to solve complex problems involving large amounts of data by generating strategic insights which help deliver APA's corporate strategy and vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop APA's view of the relevant energy markets by identifying immediate and long-term trends, risks and opportunities presented by the energy transition will impact APA's corporate strategy.

  • Provide strategic insights to APA's Senior Leaders & Executives in support of enterprise-wide strategic issues which are ambiguous, complex and require cross-functional collaboration.

  • Use market insights in collaboration with the S&CD and Energy Solutions teams to originate and monetise new projects and support initiatives to deliver APA's strategy.

  • Analyse customer, competitors, and APA's services suite to identify opportunities for revenue generation and revenue forecasts.

  • Monitor energy markets and prepare dashboards for the Executive Leadership Team / Board.

Your background

  • Tertiary qualification in Economics, Commerce, Finance, Mathematics or Engineering.

  • Proven experience in the Australian energy / electricity markets.

  • Intermediate analytical and reporting capabilities using MS Excel.

  • Entry level skills and a desire to learn Python and SQL.

  • Self-motivated with a desire to contribute to how the energy system reduces carbon emissions.

  • Experience in establishing relationships and collaborating across cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • High attention to detail with excellent communication skills.
