Australian designer accessories label, FORD MILLINERY, is offering a paid internship opportunity designed to up-skill new high school leavers and students starting their fashion/design careers. If you have a talent for Sewing and Craft (using a machine or with your hands), we want to hear from you!

ABOUT THE LABEL:

Based in inner-west Sydney, FORD MILLINERY designs and produces hats, fascinators and fashion accessories that are much-loved amongst celebrities, influencers, media & the wider public.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are on the hunt for 1 talented individual who is eager to learn about the world of designer fashion and headwear, including hand-crafting headpieces. You will learn how to create exquisite headwear by hand, and hear all the ins and outs of the fashion world around you.

TASKS INCLUDE:

  • Assist in sewing (by machine and by hand);
  • Craft tasks, such as gluing, cutting etc;
  • Assist in preparing online orders;
  • Inventory management & stocktake;
  • Quality control (checking products and materials);
  • Help organise, tidy & clean the studio;
  • Other tasks to assist the Studio Supervisor as required

REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Sewing skills (by sewing machine and by hand);
  • A genuine interest in fashion and/or design;
  • An amazing "can do" attitude! You are happy and motivated to roll up your sleeves and help with any task at hand;
  • A strong work ethic;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent self-discipline to work efficiently and autonomously;
  • A team player mentality - eager to assist wherever needed;
  • Willingness to do repetitive work (such as sewing and counting stock);
  • Willingness to do physical work, such as moving boxes, cleaning etc;
  • Friendly and positive demeanour;
  • An interest in fashion, design, creative process, craft etc;
  • Simple mathematics skills (adding stock quantities);
  • Answer ALL screening questions via Indeed (incomplete applications will not be considered).
  • A willingness and ability to work in person from our Tempe studio (near Marrickville)
