How will I help?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated senior Credit Analyst to join the Westpac Institutional Bank’s (WIB) Customer Insights & Analytics (CI&A) team focusing on Corporate and Institutional Health & Aged Care clients.

The CI&A team is responsible for high quality origination and delivery of customer and industry insights to differentiate our sales proposition, manage portfolio risk and provide robust analysis to support and deliver sustainable credit decisions, within a wholesale banking environment.

The primary responsibility of this role is to efficiently manage a portfolio of Corporate and Institutional Health and Aged Care customers, including the origination process for new transactions and the ongoing monitoring and management of the customer portfolio as the primary credit analyst.

You will also:

  • Write credit submissions including detailed risk analysis, financial forecasting, due diligence, and be able to present and negotiate submissions through WIB’s risk management decision process.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the credit process, including the required due diligence, are properly executed.
  • Test proposals against approved business and credit strategies, target market acceptance criteria and underwriting standards.
  • Build relationships and establish rapport with clients.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g. analyst peers, product experts, Relationship Managers, credit officers). Utilise your Health and Aged Care industry knowledge to deliver value added insights and research that can be used by both our customers and internal stakeholders.

What do I need?

You will have at least five years’ experience in wholesale banking or a related field with experience in credit writing and credit assessment. You will demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while building relationships with a variety of stakeholders and external clients.

Some further advantageous skills:

  • Ability to quickly review, digest and contribute to credit analysis and transaction structuring;
  • Strong communication and influencing skills required to manage significant relationships with stakeholders;
  • Extensive experience applying risk mindset and commercial acumen
  • An understanding of the health and aged care sector in particular would be highly regarded; and Tertiary qualified in an analytical focused field such as finance, business, or economics.
