Carnival Australia is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity: We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join the Finance team! This full-time permanent position, based in our Chatswood office in Sydney, will report to the Finance Manager of Voyage and Operational Accounting. The role will primarily focus on enhancing systems, processes, training, and offering support to system users on our Ships and Shoreside Accountants. You will also manage the accounting for all brand voyages, performing regular balance sheet reviews, addressing any outstanding balances, and ensuring timely resolution of unreconciled items before the month-end close.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Establish and maintain efficient voyage accounting with a strong internal control system, accurate financial and operational systems, and compliance.
* Conduct thorough reviews of CAU Balance Sheet before the monthly review call.
* Assess process flows and operations to pinpoint control weaknesses and areas for enhanced efficiency.
* Collaborate with ship-based staff and operations regularly to ensure timely and accurate data collection and mutual understanding of financial and operational connections.
* Ensure minimal Onboard Debts at EOC by working closely with Ship and Shoreside collections.
* Coordinate the month-end voyage accounting and cash applications schedule to distribute work evenly among Revenue Accountants and promote cross-training of tasks.
About You:
As a dedicated and motivated Financial Accountant, you excel in reporting, balancing sheets, and end-of-month reporting. Your expertise lies in handling large datasets, being hands-on, and possessing strong analytical skills. Continuous improvement is key for you, along with exceptional communication abilities that help you excel in the Finance department by offering insights, confidently solving financial issues, and suggesting ways to enhance performance. Your engaging personality, excellent relationship-building skills, and capacity to collaborate with stakeholders from various fields within a complex structure distinguish you from your peers.
To be successful in the role, you will need:
* 3 years of experience as a Financial Accountant in accounting or finance.
* Essential requirement of 2 years' experience in balance sheet reconciliations.
* Must have the ability to analyse large datasets and resolve accounting issues.
* Must have experience in month-end accounting processes.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and business partnering skills for effective communication and management at all organizational levels.
* Ability to think strategically and assess the consequences of decisions on operations and business.
* Proficiency in advanced Excel modeling and working with computerized accounting systems.
* Desirable to be CA/CPA qualified or working towards it.
