Comet Bay College is seeking to appoint a qualified passionate and committed Design and Technology Teacher to a full time position beginning Term 3, 2024.
The successful applicant will ideally have experience in teaching a range of Design Technologies contexts. As a college we strive to ensure our students seek excellence and this experience in teaching Western Australian Curriculum and Senior School Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) Technologies courses is vital in helping our students achieve outstanding results. The successful applicant will also be given the opportunity to work across Years 7 to 12 and bring their expertise to the Learning Area. The ideal applicant would apply their knowledge of the Design and Technology Courses, particularly at least one of Metal, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive or Electronics.

Each staff member has the opportunity to join the Advanced Instructional Intelligence Program (AIIP) and be provided with five days of professional learning to build teachers capacity in the classroom. The College also has a successful and highly competitive Australian Football Specialist Program. The Visual and Performing Arts also offer extension classes in Drama, Dance and Art to selected students in Years 7 to 10. Comet Bay College is a modern , innovative Independent Public School that caters for Years 7 to 12 students and is located one kilometre from the coast in the vibrant community of Secret Harbour. The College boasts state of the art facilities that include specialist science laboratories, a lecture theatre, fitness centre, metal fabrication centre, a modern industrial food studio and graphics/mechatronics studio.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to :
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
